1. Our Zero-Knowledge Guarantee

Noren Systems LLC ("we", "our", or "us") built Noren Notes with a strict, decentralized "Edge-to-Cloud" architecture. Our business model is based on providing you with sovereign software, not harvesting or monetizing your data.

We do not own centralized servers that store your notes, audio, or documents. We have zero access to your data, your encryption keys, or your private cloud environment. We cannot read your notes, and we cannot sell your data.

2. How Your Data is Stored and Processed

All data generation, processing, and storage happens entirely on your terms:

Local Processing: By default, all voice transcriptions (via our native Whisper engine), text entries, and semantic searches happen strictly on your local device.
Cross-Device Sync (Noren Pro): If you enable cross-device sync, Noren Notes connects directly to your personal Google Account via OAuth. Your notes and attachments are stored securely in a hidden, application-specific folder inside your private Google Drive (the AppData folder). Noren Systems LLC does not host this data and has no administrative access to your Google Drive.
Cloud AI Features: If you utilize our advanced cloud AI features (e.g., Deep Document Analysis), the data is routed securely to Google Cloud (Vertex AI) for stateless processing. We do not retain logs of your AI prompts or the generated outputs.

3. Google API Services User Data Policy (Mandatory Disclosure)

Noren Notes allows users to connect their Google accounts to sync data across devices.

Noren Notes's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We only use Google Drive scopes to read, write, and sync your Noren Notes data to your own private Drive storage.
We do not use Google user data for advertising purposes.
No human at Noren Systems LLC can read your data.

4. Device Permissions Explained

To function as your "Second Brain," Noren Notes requires specific device permissions. These are processed locally on your device:

Microphone: Required for voice capture and "Ghost Mode" background recording. Audio is processed on-device and is never sent to our servers.
Storage / Files: Required to attach photos, PDFs, and documents to your notes, and to export your data.
Camera: Required if you choose to take a photo directly within a note.
Calendar: Required to create calendar events based on dates detected in your notes (if triggered by the user).
Foreground Service (Android): Used strictly to allow "Ghost Mode" to record and process audio while the app is in the background. Android will always display a persistent notification when the microphone is active.

5. Third-Party Analytics and Tracking

Noren Notes does not include third-party advertising trackers, pixel tags, or behavioral profiling scripts. We do not monetize your attention. If the app crashes, you may be prompted by your device OS (Android) to send an anonymous crash report, which is strictly governed by your device's native privacy settings.

6. Data Deletion

Because Noren Notes is a zero-knowledge app, we do not store your data on our servers and cannot delete it for you. You have absolute, direct control over your own data, down to the individual file.

Partial Data Deletion (Inside the App):

You can delete specific pieces of data at any time without deleting your entire account:

Delete Notes: You can permanently delete any individual note by swiping left on it in your Vault or by opening the note and selecting delete.
Delete Attachments: You can open any note and manually delete attached photos, audio files, or PDFs.
Note: If you have Noren Pro (Cross-Device Sync) enabled, deleting a note or attachment inside the app will automatically delete it from your private Google Drive AppData folder as well.

Complete Data Deletion (Permanent Wipe):

To permanently and irreversibly wipe all of your Noren Notes data:

Delete Local Data: Open your phone's Settings > Apps > Noren Notes > Storage, and click "Clear Data" (or simply uninstall the app). This permanently wipes all locally cached notes, audio, and offline AI models.
Delete Cloud Data (Noren Pro Users): Log into your personal Google Drive account. Navigate to Settings > Manage Apps > Noren Notes, and click Delete hidden app data. This permanently and irreversibly deletes your synced notes from Google's servers.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as we add new features or comply with legal requirements. We will notify users of any significant changes directly within the app release notes.
