Terms of Service

By downloading, accessing, or using Noren Notes ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. The Decentralized Architecture & User Responsibility

Noren Notes operates on a sovereign, "Bring Your Own Cloud" (BYOC) client-side architecture. The App is a proprietary local software vehicle that runs on your physical hardware and, if authorized, connects directly to your personal Google Cloud Platform (GCP) project and Google Drive account via secure client-side OAuth handshakes.

Noren Systems LLC does not host, control, access, or own your data. There is no centralized multi-tenant database. Because you store your notes and process your AI models locally on your device or via your private cloud account:

  • Data Backups: You are solely responsible for backing up your data.

  • Content Responsibility: You are solely responsible for all content, audio, and documents you create, process, or store using the App.

  • Liability Limitation: Noren Systems LLC holds zero access to your data or tokens and is not liable for data loss, data corruption, or unauthorized access to your local device or your Google account.

 

2. Noren Pro: Subscription & Cloud Costs

Noren Pro unlocks the full potential of your digital notes through a unique hybrid model that combines a standard subscription with pay-as-you-go cloud pricing. This ensures maximum privacy and power at the lowest possible cost.

Part 1: Noren Pro Subscription

To enable core Pro features like cross-device sync, advanced cloud processing, and Study Guide generation, an active "Noren Pro" subscription is required.

  • Pricing: $3.99 USD per month or $34.99 USD per year.

  • Payment Processing: Payments are processed securely through the Google Play Store billing system.

  • Automatic Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing cycle. You can manage your subscription anytime in your Google Play account settings.

  • Refund Policy: Because all transactions are managed by Google Play, any refund requests must be handled in accordance with Google Play’s refund policies. Noren Systems LLC does not issue direct refunds.

 

Part 2: Bring-Your-Own-Cloud for Advanced Intelligence

For our most powerful features—Deep Intelligence and Second Brain—Noren Pro connects directly to your private Google Cloud account. This "Bring Your Own Cloud" (BYOC) model means your personal data never sits on our servers, giving you ultimate privacy and control.

  • Direct, At-Cost Billing: You pay Google directly for the AI resources you use (like Vertex AI) at their raw, at-cost pricing. Noren adds absolutely no markups, so you only pay for what you use.

  • Estimated Costs: While usage varies based on your needs, the cost for a typical user is often under $2.00 per month. This is an estimate, and your actual costs will depend on your individual usage.

  • Google Cloud Free Trial: To help you get started, new Google Cloud accounts are eligible for a one-time $300 credit. Please note these are trial-only credits; after the trial, Google will bill your account directly for usage.

This combined approach allows us to offer basic Pro features at a predictable price while giving you a private, cost-effective way to access cutting-edge AI.

 

3. Third-Party Integrations & Sovereign Client-Side Routing

To support data residency preferences, the App performs client-side region selection for Vertex AI requests using the device locale (and any region the user sets in Cloud Settings):

  • EU / UK (and related European locales): Generative AI requests are routed to Google Cloud’s Europe multi-region (eu). Automatic failover to United States regions is blocked.

  • Other regions: Generative AI requests are routed to the United States multi-region (us), with a limited client-side fallback to Google’s global Vertex endpoint when a model is unavailable in the primary location.

  • User Overrides: Users may override Auto routing with an explicit us, eu, or custom location where supported. On-device AI remains available when cloud routing fails.

  • Zero Server Markups: You pay Noren Systems LLC strictly for the software license. All cloud API compute is billed directly to your personal Google Cloud project at raw cost, with zero middleman markups.

 

4. Hardware Requirements & Dynamic Silicon Routing

Local artificial intelligence execution (including on-device large language models and native transcription) requires a device with 8GB or more of physical RAM.

The App utilizes a proprietary, client-side Memory Residency Controller to monitor available hardware headroom in real-time:

  • On flagship hardware, the App maintains concurrent "Dual Warm" model states.

  • On budget or low-memory devices (less than 2.0 GB of available RAM), the App automatically triggers a sequential "Relay Race" execution protocol, evicting native model weights before loading adjacent models to prevent Out-Of-Memory (OOM) crashes.

 

5. Intellectual Property & Patent-Pending Status

Noren Systems LLC owns all intellectual property rights associated with the Noren Engine, the App interface, its native bridging logic (including the Native Whisper FFI integration), and its proprietary routing systems (including the Infinite Margin OAuth Brokerage, Sovereign Client-Side Regional Routing, and Write, Send, Shrink Architecture). Technologies embedded in this product are protected under active filings with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal or business purposes.

  • You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Noren Engine or any native .so binaries.

 

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

Noren Notes is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. Noren Systems LLC makes no guarantees regarding the continuous availability, speed, or absolute accuracy of the local or cloud AI-generated transcriptions or summarizations. You use the AI outputs at your own risk.

 

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Noren Systems LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of business revenue, or hardware failure.

 

8. Changes to the Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated via release notes in the App Store. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
